We are four young students; travelling together,
studying world music, and documenting everything, to bring the results back
to you. From the 15th of October 2001 we will be travelling through West Africa,
South America and South-East Asia for approximately a year. In each of these
continents we will track down the sounds, festivals and celebrations of the
traditional cultures.
You can follow our journey through:
This website - watch videos, listen to music and read our travel newspaper.
Television on Internet - www.alatele.com
TV and radio : please check : rendez-vous
Please note: The entire site is not in English; these following instructions are to help you
navigate through the French version.
In English, you have access to:
- The 'audiotheque', which contains articles, video footage, music in MP3 format
and photos of the tour.
- A short presentation of the project '2001, music
odyssey'
- 'Contact us', a presentation of the team and how to get in contact
with us.
1) Why world music?
The main objective is to
study and learn about cultures through their music. In all societies, music
is used to communicate and share emotion. We hope to gain further insight
into the tribes we study through their music, which can be seen as the heart
of many cultures.
2) How to navigate through the 'audiotheque':
You can search
for world music articles either through the type of music (voice, percussion,
samba, contemporary etc.) or a geographical region (Morocco, Brazil, West
Africa, Korea, etc.). After entering your chosen area, a list of appropriate
articles will be displayed on the right-hand side of the screen. Not all the
'audioteque' articles are in English, for access to music, photos or video
footage, just click on the appropriate icon.
